Global Diorama

The Globe Theatre, built in 1599 for Shakespeare’s plays, burned down in 1613 but was rebuilt in 1614. It closed in 1642 by the Puritans and was demolished in 1644. In the late 20th century, the actor and director Sam Wanamaker spearheaded efforts to reconstruct The Globe, reviving its legacy. Our concept, a diorama that allows the past and future to observe each other within a modern globe, closely aligns with Sam Wanamaker’s vision. Upon examining our piece, you can observe that the futuristic globe’s reflection in the mirror unveils a hint of its historical appearance, encapsulating the notion of ‘The Past and the Future looking at each other’. For this project, we

crafted the layout using balsa wood, foam board, paper, and papier-mâché to effectively convey the transition between timelines.
